Accessibility

We are committed to making CLEONet a web site that is accessible and easy to use.

There is information about updating your web browser, changing your text size, and working with Portable Document Format (PDF) files on our Help page.

CLEONet's accessibility standards and testing

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) has developed accessibility standards for web sites. It has set 3 levels of accessibility guidelines. To summarize: to make your web site accessible their Priority 1 guidelines must be done, Priority 2 guidelines should be done, and Priority 3 guidelines may be done.

CLEONet meets Priority 1 and 2 guidelines and most Priority 3 guidelines. This means that the CLEONet web site complies with Conformance Level "Double-A" of the W3C's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.

Our web site developers also did the following testing on CLEONet:

  • They tested using Fangs, Firefox's screen reader emulator.
  • They tested using WebXACT and Bobby, which are verification tools that scan web pages checking for a variety of issues, including quality, privacy, and accessibility.
  • They tested to make sure CLEONet could be used by people with colour blindnesss.
  • They tested to make sure CLEONet worked well with older web browsers and dial-up Internet access.
