The Community Social Planning Council of Toronto has set up a web site with information about the October 14 federal election. The site is called Toronto Votes! but will be useful for voters all over Ontario.
It features a series of 12 fact sheets on key election issues, written in clear language. The fact sheets have background information, suggested questions for candidates, and sources for additional information. They are available in 19 languages: Amharic, Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, English, Farsi, French, Greek, Gujarati, Italian, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Somali, Spanish, Tamil, Twi, and Vietnamese.
Also available on the web site are links to other sites including: Canada Votes 2008, which has more in-depth background on a similar range of issues but from a national perspective; Information for Voters from Ethnocultural Communities; and Election Tip Sheet for Charities and Nonprofits.
