Immigration wait times up 20 per cent
Posted February 11, 2008 - Immigration wait times have surged more than 20 per cent since 2004, according to statistics released by the Liberals in Ottawa. Some groups of immigrants are forced to wait a staggering 2,300 per cent longer than others depending on where they're from and what immigration category they fall under.

Survey shows more judges needed now in family court
Posted February 5, 2008 - A survey of lawyers across the province on the issue of judicial resources in family, civil, and criminal law shows that an increase to the judicial complement is needed in the family court. Some areas of the province are reportedly experiencing delays of several months in obtaining a case conference, say members of the bar.

MPP faces human rights probe over 'crazed' remark
Posted February 4, 2008 - Liberal MPP Tony Ruprecht is facing a human-rights complaint over a letter he wrote last year opposing a social housing project in his Toronto riding, saying the area was already plagued with "crazed individuals." A group of activists who have mental health issues allege Ruprecht's remarks discriminate against people with mental illness and have filed the complaint with help from the Advocacy Centre for Tenants Ontario.

Ontario government launches campaign to help Francophone victims of domestic violence

The Neighbours, Friends and Families campaign - in French, Voisin-es, ami-es et familles - places emphasis on prevention and better community supports for abused women and their children.
