York Region clinic wins ruling at Ontario Rental Housing Tribunal
Posted November 30, 2006 - The Community Legal Clinic of York Region (CLCYR) recently challenged a supportive-housing facility in York Region to reinstate a long-term resident after she had languished in the palliative care ward of the Markham-Stouffville Hospital for over a year. As a result of this ruling, supportive-housing facilities now fall under the Tenant Protection Act (TPA).

Participants needed to help Chinese Canadian women who are experiencing domestic violence
Posted November 29, 2006 - The "Women Ambassador" program will produce a video on the prevention of domestic violence to help Chinese Canadian women who are experiencing domestic violence. The video will be based on true stories and will be used for community education purposes. The program is seeking participants to share their stories and form a support group. Participants are also needed to receive training as a "Domestic Violence Prevention Ambassador."

Toronto police chief says border agency's fears about new policy are premature

Government of Ontario invests in interpreter services for victims of domestic violence
Posted November 24, 2006 - The Ontario government is investing $2.1 million in interpreter services so that victims of domestic violence get the help they need in the language they know best, Ontario Minister of Citizenship and Immigration Mike Colle and Minister Responsible for Women's Issues, Sandra Pupatello announced today.
