Waterloo woman didn't have enough documents to get new Ontario ID card
Posted August 3, 2011 - A Waterloo woman presented her Ontario health card, her birth certificate, and her old-age security card which contained her social insurance number, but they weren't enough to get a new Ontario ID card.

A bumpy start for a new style of family court
Posted August 2, 2011 - It was heralded as an innovative first for the Canadian justice system -- a pilot project in Ontario merging family court and criminal domestic violence cases with a one-judge, one-courtroom approach. But at its launch in June, the Integrated Domestic Violence Court heard only one case, then was promptly forced to cancel its next two sessions for lack of cases.

Family litigants without lawyers: Study documents growing challenges for the justice system

Ontario Liberals announce highest rent increase rate in years
Posted August 2, 2011 - Ontario's governing Liberals say if they are re-elected this fall they will change the way the province's rent increase rate is set after it took one of the biggest jumps in years Friday. Municipal Affairs and Housing Minister Rick Bartolucci made the promise after announcing the rate by which landlords would be able to increase tenants' rents in 2012 would be 3.1 per cent.

August 4, 2011 - This is an opportunity for people to sign up for a Social Insurance Number and a free Canada Learning Bond, which goes into a child's Registered Education Savings Plan even if parents don't have money to contribute themselves. The government also adds money to whatever parents can save.
