Child Protection
This booklet explains the role of child welfare agencies in Ontario. It describes the powers and duties of these agencies, often called Children's Aid Societies (CAS), and tells how a child in need of protection may come to the attention of a CAS. This booklet highlights the special role of Aboriginal Child and Family Services and the requirement to ensure that services for Indian and Native children recognize the importance of their culture, heritage, and traditions.
Other credits This booklet was written for Aboriginal women based on material produced by Family Law Education for Women (FLEW).
