Elections do matter.

But the federal election in 2008 had the lowest turnout since Confederation. And turnout is often worse amongst people who are poor, disadvantaged, and marginalized.

When people don't hear their issues being talked about during an election, they might not see much reason to vote. And when our lawmakers are elected without equal participation of large segments of society, democracy isn't working as well as it should.

SO VOTE! reminds people that elections at all levels of government can directly affect the things that matter most to them. Community Legal Education Ontario, our community partners, and The Works Design Communications Ltd. have developed a poster that highlights issues of concern to low-income and disadvantaged voters.

We hope you will help us get the SO VOTE! message out. To do this, you can:

  • include links to this site on your Web site, in your e-mails and on your printed materials
  • click here to order posters
  • download the poster (in Portable Document Format)
  • put SO VOTE! posters up where they will be seen
  • take SO VOTE! posters to all-candidates meetings or community events.
